BPM Delay Time Calculator
Delay and reverb times for every note value, straight from your tempo.
| Note | Straight | Dotted | Triplet |
|---|
How to use
- Set the BPM with the slider or the field — the table updates live.
- Straight: the plain note length. Use it for delay time.
- Dotted: 1.5× the note. Dotted-eighth delay is a classic.
- Triplet: 2/3 of the note, for triplet grooves.
- Hz view: handy for LFO sync rates or treating pre-delay as a filter frequency.
The formula
Milliseconds for a quarter note = 60000 ÷ BPM. Every other value scales from there (whole ×4, eighth ×0.5, and so on).
FAQ
- Which value should I use for reverb pre-delay?
- Straight 1/16 to 1/8 are common starting points. Adjust to taste for the tempo and arrangement.
- What's the dotted-eighth delay time?
- The "Dotted" column on the "Eighth (1/8)" row. At 120 BPM that's 375 ms (straight eighth is 250 ms).
